Our executive team focus on the business strategy and growth directions of Data Machines; each brings a unique complimentary perspective and entrepreneurial vision to the company.

MATTHEW QUINN, Chief Executive Officer

Matt Quinn (a.k.a. “Quinn”) is the CEO of Data Machines. He is a well-respected, trusted leader with 20 years of experience across the industry, academia, and government sectors. Quinn has strong leadership experience building, developing, and motivating growing teams. He has a successful record of securing substantial funding for new strategic research activities and transitioning them to warfighters and decision-makers. His expertise includes leadership of complex, sensitive programs with a focus on research and development, strategic vision, and strategic alignment within the communities he enjoys working with.
Quinn has a Master of Engineering Management from Pennsylvania State University and a B.S. in Computer Science from Bloomsburg University with a minor in Mathematics. Prior to joining DMC, Quinn had a successful 17-year career at the Applied Research Laboratory at Pennsylvania State University. Over those 17 years, he initially served as an individual contributor as a software developer at different intelligence community and department of defense sites, and matured to an organizational leader directing a major Division focused on DevSecOps, ML/AI, Experimentation, and Model and Simulation.

STEVE WOOD, Chief Growth Officer

Steve Wood is the Chief Growth Officer at Data Machines where he works with an insanely talented team in an incredible culture to lead change and new ideas redefining the possibilities of automation and artificial intelligence. Steve excels at leading and developing high-performing business development, marketing, and strategy teams to facilitate the growth of our industry-leading innovators who are working with our partners in both the private and public sector to create what can today only be imagined.
Before coming to Data Machines, Steve led operational, intelligence and R&D projects in the aviation and government sectors. Steve is a U.S. Army veteran with operational and combat service in Macedonia, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, earning several commendations and awards from his service including the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Science Award. Steve most recently provided expert testimony on Afghanistan and the Taliban to federal court proceedings. Steve has an MBA from Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, an MA in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and a BA in History from Ohio University.

ERIC WHYNE, Founder and President

Eric Whyne is the founder, President, and Chief Innovation Officer of Data Machines.

BURT THOMPSON, Strategic Advisor

Burt Thompson servers as Strategic Advisor to the leadership team at Data Machines. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer for the Army Historical Foundation. He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Brigadier General before entering industry and holding senior leadership roles in several companies. His Army service included: Deputy Director, Strategic Plans and Policy U.S. PACOM, Deputy Commanding General, 25th Infantry Div, Deputy Director for Operations National Military Command Center, EO for Under Secretary of the Army, and Commander 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Div. Burt has an M.S. in Personnel Management and Administration from Central Michigan University, an M.S. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, an M.A. in Advanced Military Studies from the U.S. Army Command and Staff College, and a B.A. in Government from Norwich University

CATHERINE SCHYMANSKI, Chief Operations Officer

Catherine Schymanski is the Chief Operations Officer and Facility Security Officer at Data Machines. Prior to joining DMC, Catherine supported various types of DoD projects from program outreach to public affairs. Catherine received both her M.A. and B.A. in Communication from George Mason University. When she’s not at DMC, you can find Catherine curled up with a mystery novel.
