Automate Inventory Management with DMC’s ICE

Today, companies in all industries from retail to data science depend on inventory management to keep track of their products and property. Efficiently monitoring and tracking these assets can seem like a daunting task, especially when faced with outdated, cumbersome systems that can be difficult and time-consuming to use.

As a company that manages thousands on thousands of assets for federal customers, DMC teams set out to develop a new system that would not only help automate the process, but also easily manage and meet federal requirements. For that reason, DMC’s Inventory Control Engine (ICE) features a brand new design and promises a simple, accessible, global, low-impact solution of inventory management as well as a secure fully featured API enabling deep custom integration. Engineers in the field can now simultaneously work and inventory assets seamlessly alongside their day-to-day efforts.

Global Access

DMC’s Inventory Control Engine (ICE) completely automates the process, removing the need for any additional products or manpower, saving both time and money. With just a smartphone and an Internet connection, users can access and manage their inventory through DMC’s secure database from anywhere in the world. Instead of employing traditional barcodes, which only allow for a numeric identification number, ICE utilizes the intentionality of QR codes, allowing users to embed specific actions into each tag. Every scan of these codes immediately provides the dated location of an inventoried item with GPS accuracy - even if it has been lost and recovered by a third party. ICE enables the global ability for any authorized user with a smartphone to manage inventory, update location, and help further describe metadata associated with a given item. If needed, the system can also be used in classified or offline spaces with a handheld QR scanner.

A Solution for Federal Clients

ICE can be implemented anywhere, but is specifically designed around the needs of federal customers and business. The system takes inventory management one step further with the ability to seamlessly manage inventory while following strict compliance requirements.

ICE focuses on the inventory management principles that are most important for federal compliance and accountability, including:

  • Acquisition

  • Storage

  • Maintenance

  • Receipt

  • Physical Inventory

  • Subcontractor Control

  • Identification

  • Reports

  • Self-assessment

  • Records

  • Consumption

  • Disposition

  • Movement

  • Utilization

  • Property Closeout

Customizable and Scalable

DMC’s inventory management solution is configurable for cloud, on-premise, or hybrid infrastructure and is capable of managing hundreds of thousands of property items in a single instance. The system also provides scalable access from one to thousands of users, and the fully-developed role-based access control (RBAC) implementation enables an enterprise to dial in the exact permissions and responsibilities of each user. Data can then be exported to either tabular formats such as CSV or textual and graphical like HTML and PDF.

ICE was developed by data engineers to solve the problems they faced when managing the inventory that supported their work. The system is not externally dependent on any other service or vendor, and offers flexible deployment support for any environment. And, while flexible, ICE has a robust architecture that enforces structure, validity, and security of critical inventory management, tracking, and auditing needs. This easy-to-use tool allows users to spend a minimal amount of time on inventory so they can focus on more crucial tasks.
